Fairfield ZBA Approves 7 Variance Petitions, Denies 1 On Sasco Hill

FAIRFIELD, CT — At its January meeting, the Fairfield Zoning Board of Appeals addressed several petitions for variances from zoning regulations, with most applications receiving approval.

Among the continued docket items, the petition for 287 South Benson Road, seeking variances for street line and side line setbacks, was continued to the February meeting.

The petition for 159 Tahmore Drive, requesting variances to reduce the secondary street line and increase total lot coverage for a two-story addition, was approved unanimously.

Additionally, the board then considered several items on the general docket. Variances were approved for properties at 37 Old Spring Road for a shed; 1610 Fairfield Beach Road for a pump station upgrade; and 56 Rugby Road to legitimize existing stairs. Approvals also included 28 Alberta St. for an accessory dwelling unit; 24 Cambridge St. for an in-ground pool, and 113 Beaumont St. for two, two-story additions.

A petition for 75 Sasco Hill Terrace, seeking a variance to reduce the sum of two side line setbacks for a new single-family dwelling, was denied by a 3-2 vote, with members Jane Nishball, Joseph Schwartz, and Christine Hogan voting against it. Members Katie O’Grady and alternate member Rachel Fowler voted in favor.
