False Accuser In SHU Rape Case Won't Get Out Of Probation Early

The woman was convicted after falsely accusing two former Sacred Heart University football players of rape, according to a media report.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Probation will not end early for a woman convicted after falsely accusing two former Sacred Heart University football players of rape, according to the Connecticut Post. Nikki Yovino in 2016 told police she was sexually assaulted by the men at a Sacred Heart party in Bridgeport, the Post reported, adding the men said the sex was consensual and Yovino admitted several months later she made the allegation up.

Yovino agreed to a plea bargain in 2018, pleading guilty to false reporting and interfering with police in exchange for a sentence of three years in prison, suspended after one year served, and three years on probation, the Post reported. A judge last week refused to end the probation early, according to the Post, which noted Yovino has served one year and four months of probation so far.
