False Alarm Fines To Increase In Fairfield

Fairfield is increasing the fines in an effort to reduce the amount of false alarms in town.

FAIRFIELD, CT — False alarm fines in Fairfield are set to go up July 1, according to the police department. Fairfield is increasing the fines in an effort to reduce the amount of false alarms in town, police stated in a post on Twitter.

The new fines are:
• First and second false alarm: no fine
• Third false alarm: $50
• Fourth false alarm: $75
• Fifth false alarm: $100
• Sixth or seventh false alarm: $125
• Eighth false alarm or higher: $150

False alarms add up for one calendar year from the date of the first false alarm. Failure to pay fines within 30 days results in an additional $125 fee.
