FCIAC Dominating State Lacrosse Tournaments
Eight FCIAC teams still alive, including Fairfield Ludlowe in the girls Division II tournament
If ther were any lingering doubts that the FCIAC is the premier high school lacrosse league in the state, they've been removed during the postseason.
Eight FCIAC teams have reached the final four in their respective state tournaments, which is 40 percent of the available spots (12 for the three boys' tournaments and eight for the two girls' events).
Three boys teams have reached the final four - Darien and New Canaan - no surprise, there - and Staples.

On the girls side, five teams have made it to the semifinals, led by Darien and New Canaan (again, no surprise).
However, the Blue Wave and Rams have been joined by Greenwich and newcomers Staples and Fairfield Ludlowe.

Here's the schedule, starting with the boys' semifinals on Tuesday:
Class M semifinals: No. 2 seed Darien vs. No. 3 New Canaan, 5 p.m, at Ludlowe High School (this very well could be the state championship game).
Class L semifinals: No. 1 seed Staples vs. No. 4 Fairfield Prep, 7:15 p.m., at McMahon High School in Norwalk.
The girls quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, and the five FCIAC teams will be involved in doubleheaders at Bunnell High in Stratford and Fairfield Ludlowe High School.
Division I semifinals: at Warde: No. 2 New Canaan vs. No. 6 Glastonbury, 5 p.m., and No. 5 Greenwich vs. No. 8 seed Darien, 7 p.m.
Division II semifinals, at Bunnell: No. 10 Staples vs. No. 3 St. Bernard, 5 p.m., and No. 8 Fairfield Ludlowe vs. No. 5 Haddam-Killingworth, 7 p.m.
The seedings mean nothing because the CIAC ranks losses equally and it simply isn't an accurate way to measure the teams.
The Darien girls, for example, lost three games during the regular season to New York state powers and slipped in the Division I rankings because of it.
Newtown, which plays in the South-West Conference, earned the top seed in the Division I girls tournament. But the Nighthawks were beaten by Darien, 19-12, in the quarterfinals on Monday, and nobody is going to consider the game an upset, though technically it would be.
In Division II, Granby Memorial and Immaculate, also a member of the SWC, were the top two seeds, respectively, yet both fell to FCIAC schools in the quarterfinals.
Ludlowe beat Granby Memorial, 11-7, and Staples ousted Immaculate, 18-11.
