Flash Flood Watch Issued In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT — With heavy rains expected to be on the way, a Flood Watch has been issued in Fairfield, and it will remain in effect until Wednesday evening, according to officials.

Several inches of rain could fall during the period, and could lead to flash floods in many areas around the region and state, according to the National Weather Service:

Fairfield/New Haven County: A flood watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday until Wednesday evening.

"A slow moving low pressure system will bring multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms to the area today through Wednesday. Average rainfall amounts are expected to be between 3 and 5 inches with localized higher amounts. Peak hourly rainfall rates could be as high as 2 to 3 inches in the heaviest showers and thunderstorms," the weather service states.
