FLHS Announces Valedictorian, Salutatorian for Class of 2011

Haley M. Lynch, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Lynch, has been named valedictorian of Fairfield Ludlowe High School’s Class of 2011, and Jennifer Cardona, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Cardona, is the class’ salutatorian.

Haley Lynch’s academic and extra curricular achievements are far reaching. A recipient of the Brown University Book Award, and AP Scholar Award, Haley has been involved in the sciences at Fairfield Ludlowe and beyond working as a volunteer research assistant at Norwalk Hospital and attending the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston. She is a member of the Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Jazz Ensemble, Tri-Music Honor Society and Newspaper Club.

Haley is recognized not only as a scholar, but is an athlete and leader as well. She has played varsity field hockey, track and tennis and served as a Ludlowe Leader, a capella choral member and writer for the school Newspaper Club. Haley’s future plans include attending Dartmouth College with the goal to become a doctor.

Jennifer Cardona has been President of the National Honor Society, Wellesley Book Award and recipient of the World Language Award for Excellence. She has been captain of the cross country team and Vice President of the Earth Action Club and vice-president of the class. Additionally, Jen is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society. Throughout her four years in high school, Jen has been involved in numerous community service activities, including Relay for Life, serving as an intern in the first selectman’s office and fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Jen also is a musician and violist in the school’s orchestra. Jennifer will be attending Brown University in the Fall.
