Gerber, Vitale To Run For Fairfield First Selectman, Selectwoman
The two Democrats will hold an official kickoff event next week.

The following announcement is from the campaign of Bill Gerber and Christine Vitale:
FAIRFIELD, CT — Bill Gerber and Christine Vitale will officially announce their candidacy for Fairfield First Selectman and Selectman, respectively, on March 2nd at a kickoff event held at Metro Kitchen and Bar in Fairfield. Esteemed guest speakers will include Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Attorney General William Tong. Invited guests include state and local elected officials, Fairfield Democratic Town Committee (DTC) leaders, and members of the public.
In a statement, Fairfield DTC Chair, Steven Sheinberg, described the team as "intelligent and principled elected leaders who are committed to good government for the town of Fairfield.” Fairfield Selectman Nancy Lefkowitz also praised Mr. Gerber, saying “I served with Bill on the RTM. His intelligence and analytical mind has improved many proposals that have come before the RTM. Bill has a solid foundation of ethical and principled behavior that would be welcome at the top of town government.”

A Wesleyan University graduate, Bill Gerber and his family have lived in Fairfield for 26 years. Mr. Gerber, who is a CPA with master's degrees in accounting and public health and an MBA in finance, has deep experience in finance, budgeting, strategic planning, and management in the corporate world. Committed to public service for Fairfield, Mr. Gerber has applied his professional expertise as a member of the Representative Town Meeting (RTM), Fairfield’s legislative body, for the past 10 years helping the Town make better-informed decisions on finance, policy, and planning.
“I look forward to using my financial and management expertise to bring our community together in order to build a better, more resilient Fairfield, and improve the quality of life for all residents,” said Mr. Gerber. “Together we’re better – it’s something I live by in both my personal and professional life, and I look forward to bringing this principle to Town Hall as Fairfield’s next First Selectman.”

Ms. Vitale is well-known in Fairfield for her many years of service in leadership positions with Fairfield PTAs and various education organizations. She has been a member of Fairfield’s Board of Education for six years, including four years as chairman. Ms. Vitale has a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University and professional experience as a management consultant and administrator for professional and non-profit association clients. She, her husband Bill, and their three children have lived in Fairfield for 27 years.
“I look forward to working with Bill to bring good government back to Fairfield - strong management of public institutions, appropriate management of public resources, and the guarantee of all human rights,” said Ms. Vitale.”
