Golf Tournament To Benefit Wounded Warrior Project Set For August 9 at Tashua Knolls

Wounded Warrior Project helps severely injured servicemen

The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization started by a group of veterans whose mission is to provide support  to severly wounded soldiers and their families.

The organization conducts a number of annual fundraisers, and Stratford resident Pat Buchanan is doing his part by running a golf tournament August 9 at the Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull.

The cost is $200 per person and includes a continental breakfast, use of the driving range, boxed lunch after nine holes along with a sit-down dinner and one-hour open bar after the golf.

Registration and continental breakfast are at 8 a.m, with the tournament, which will use a scramble format, getting under way at 10 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive, closest to the pin and the top two teams.

According to Buchanan, as of July 31, about 40-44 players had signed up from various towns in the area, including Wilton. Ideally, he would like to have a foursome for each hole (72 players), meaning a number of spots were still available.

Buchanan hopes to raise $3,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, which he feels would be a good effort for an inaugural event.
