Groundbreaking Scheduled For Four Corners Project In Stratfield

The intersection renovation and upgrade project is slated to cost nearly $2 million.

The following announcement is from the Town of Fairfield:

FAIRFIELD, CT — First Selectwoman Brenda L. Kupchick announced [Tuesday] that a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Four Corners Project in the Stratfield neighborhood of Fairfield will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 4:30 pm at the Four Corners (the intersection of Fairfield Woods Road and Stratfield Road/RT 59) in front of the Welcome to Stratfield Village sign on the corner where M&T Bank is located (1237 Stratfield Road).

This groundbreaking marks the start of the Four Corners Project, an approximate $1.9 million dollar renovation and upgrade to the intersection at the center of the Stratfield Village neighborhood of Fairfield. The improvements will make the intersection safer, more pedestrian and bike-friendly and will beautify and enhance the area. This project was born as an initiative over five years ago from the Stratfield Village Association (SVA), a 501 c3 non-profit neighborhood association. Over the last five years, SVA has worked with the Town of Fairfield on the design and partnered with the Town and the State Delegation to help secure funding from State, Federal and Town sources, as well as private donations from the neighborhood, including Sacred Heart University. All design plans were coordinated and approved by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and the Town of Fairfield. Work on the project is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of the calendar year.
