Historic Southport Home Damaged In Fire: FD
No injuries were reported in the Saturday evening fire.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A fire on the roof of a Center Street home in Southport was extinguished by Fairfield firefighters on Saturday, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
The Connecticut Post reported that the home is 187 years old, and that no injuries were reported in the fire.
To battle the blaze, Fairfield firefighters used multiple hoses, and had to cut holes in the roof to cut holes in the roof for access.

Patch reached out to a department spokesperson for comment about the fire, but did not immediately receive a reply.
A preliminary investigation determined embers from a fireplace caused the blaze, according to the publication.
