Hit-And-Run At Fairfield Party Causes Broken Bones: Police

A man is accused of causing a crash that broke a person's foot and ankle bones, and then fleeing the scene, Fairfield police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man is charged in connection with a Fairfield hit-and-run that resulted in multiple broken bones, police said.

Joseph T. Palmer was at a party about 7 p.m. Saturday on Brookview Avenue when he intentionally rammed a person’s car while the person was placing their child in the vehicle, according to information provided by Fairfield Capt. Robert Kalamaras. The collision broke the person’s ankle and foot, police said, adding that Palmer fled, but was quickly apprehended.

Palmer, 50, is charged with third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, evading responsibility in the operation of a vehicle causing injury, reckless driving, failure to drive right, driving without a license and driving an unregistered vehicle, according to police.

Palmer was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is set to appear in court Aug. 3, police said.

According to court records, Palmer has several past convictions, including third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, second-degree threatening, first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree breach of peace.
