House Sitter Accused of Stealing More Than $30,000 Worth of Items from Fairfield Resident

Kenneth Mathews, 29, of Bridgeport was arrested on a warrant.

A Bridgeport man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday for allegedly stealing more than $30,000 worth of clothing and jewelry from a Fairfield home where he was house-sitting in August, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports that Kenneth Mathews, 29, faces charges of first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny in connection with items that were missing from the home he was house-sitting at from Aug. 11 to Aug. 22.

Mathews told police he didn’t take anything from the house but a guest he invited over was responsible for the thefts, according to the Citizen. However, Mathews did turn over several items that belonged to the homeowner on two separate occasions.
