How To Trick Or Treat Safely In The Rain: Fairfield Fire Dept.
The fire department has issued tips to keep trick or treaters safe in forecast rainy weather.
Via the Fairfield Fire Department: FAIRFIELD, CT — The Halloween forecast looks wet, so grab your umbrella, rain boots and flashlights for trick or treating. The Fairfield Fire Department has offered the following wet weather Halloween tips:
- Consider attending an indoor trick or treat event this year.
- Always bring a flashlight with new batteries — glow sticks can help too.
- Consider wearing reflective clothing or adding reflective tape to Halloween costumes.
- Masks should not be worn while walking on the roadway.
- Be sure hoods and umbrellas do not block your line of sight, be mindful of vehicles.
- Drivers should be more cautious on Halloween night — take it slow.
- Drivers should ensure children are properly buckled when traveling from house to house.
- Pedestrians should not assume the right of way.
- Children under the age of 12 should be escorted by adults.
- Carry a cellphone in case of an emergency.
- Trick or treaters should only approach houses with the lights on.
- At the end of the night check for unwrapped candy and dispose of it.
