Hundreds Lose Power In Fairfield Outage; Traffic Lights Affected
Power was restored to most United Illuminating Co. customers as of about 1 p.m.

UPDATE: As of about 1 p.m. Thursday, power was restored to all but one United Illuminating Co. customer in Fairfield, according to the company's outage map. Fairfield police said in a Facebook post that the outage was caused by a transformer issue.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Hundreds of customers in Fairfield are without power mid-day Thursday. United Illuminating Co.'s outage map showed more than 500 customers had no power as of about 11:30 a.m. Fairfield police reported the outage was affecting the downtown area, including Post Road between North Benson and Mill Plain roads.
"This outage has also effected Traffic Lights in the area and we are working to ensure traffic controls are put in place until power is restored," police said in a Facebook post.
