Illegal Fireworks Cause Fourth Of July Fire: Fairfield Officials
Fairfield police are investigating the incident.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Illegal fireworks were the cause of a condo fire on the Fourth of July in Fairfield, according to officials. The blaze was reported just before 11 p.m. Thursday in the 4000 block of Park Avenue, a news release from the Fairfield Fire Department stated.
A sleeping resident who was awakened by the sound of the fire alerted her family and called 911, according to the news release. The fire department sent several vehicles to the scene, found the blaze in the back of the five-unit condo complex and controlled the fire.
"Had the resident not been awakened this fire would have grown rapidly and the outcome could have had a very tragic ending," the news release stated.
