Interfaith Gathering To Heal & Comfort Saturday In Fairfield

The event, in the wake of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, will be held in the Sherman Green lot.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An interfaith gathering "offering support, counsel, faith and community connection" will be held in Fairfield Saturday in the wake of the mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Organized by state Sen. Tony Hwang, the event will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Sherman Green lot.

"No Politics, No Rancor," Hwang wrote in a statement. "It is ONLY about gathering to heal and grieve - to cherish and be with loved ones - to offer kindness and compassion for each other."

Scheduled speakers for the Interfaith Gathering:
- 1st Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick (Town of Fairfield) - Invited
- Rev. Vanessa Rose (Fairfield 1st Congregational) - and requested music from choir
- Imam Mohamed Abdel Ati (Bridgeport Islamic Community Ctr)
- Rabbi Evan Schultz (Congregation B’nai Israel) - also providing music
