Interim Superintendent Of Schools Announced In Fairfield
Dr. Toni Jones is leaving the district at the end of the school year.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Dr. Stephen Tracy has been named Fairfield’s interim superintendent of schools as the district searches for a permanent replacement for Dr. Toni Jones, who is leaving to become Greenwich’s superintendent on July 1. Tracy, a former top administrator in several state school districts, has previously served as an interim superintendent of schools in Fairfield. Tracy was appointed by the board of education at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Tracy is currently serving as the interim superintendent for the New Milford school district, a position he has held since last year. Before that he was interim superintendent for the New London school district for the 2017-18 school year, following his prior interim work in Fairfield.
Before coming to Fairfield in 2016, Tracy was superintendent of schools for the Department of Children and Families, where he was responsible for the education of children in foster and residential care. He was the Derby Superintendent of Schools from 2008-2012; senior vice president for the Edison Project from 1993-2007 and superintendent of schools in New Milford from 1985-93.

A graduate of Princeton University, with an AB in Public and International Affairs, Tracy also holds a MAT degree (Teaching of Social Studies) from Columbia University, and an EdD in Educational Leadership from Harvard University.
Once Tracy signs his new contract, the details of his employment will be made public, board Chairman Christine Vitale announced at Tuesday night’s meeting.
