Judge Daniel F. Caruso Scholarship Recipients Announced

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Union has announced the first recipients of the Judge Daniel F. Caruso Scholarship, which was created in 2018 to honor the life work of Judge Daniel F. Caruso who passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 25 at the age of 60. Read more from the Fairfield Police Department below:

Judge Caruso, who served as Fairfield Probate Judge from 1995 until his passing, was an advocate for anyone and everyone who needed help in the community. In addition, Judge Caruso sat on numerous boards and committees always offering his expertise and assistance. Judge Caruso sat on the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Board and was instrumental in setting up this scholarship fund and an integral part of its success. He offered his legal advice, support, and guidance establishing and growing this fund.

Judge Caruso embodied the spirit of community and civic duty, always putting service above self. “JUDGE,” as people always called him, was a compassionate, dedicated and selfless person. He was a man of strong faith and believed in always helping those in need. He was a strong supporter and advocate for both Notre Dame High School and Fairfield Preparatory School.

In his honor we are awarding scholarships to students at both of these schools. The recipient of this award needs to embody Judge Caruso’s core values. We are awarding these scholarships to the student(s) at each school who put service above self, who volunteer their time for the underserved, someone who sits on student government or committees, or someone who has effected change in the community.

The awards will be presented Tuesday, May 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Fairfield Preparatory School, 1073 North Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824.
