Kayaker Rescued From Penfield Lighthouse: Fairfield Fire Dept.
Firefighters tried to locate the kayaker from shore Saturday night, but due to the darkness required the use of a drone.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield first responders rescued a distressed kayaker Saturday from Penfield Lighthouse, according to the fire department.
Emergency personnel received a call about 8:15 p.m. from the kayaker, who had been dislodged from his kayak and swam to the rocks at the base of the lighthouse, the department said in a Facebook post. Firefighters tried to locate the kayaker from shore, but due to the darkness required the use of a drone.
A fire crew rescued the kayaker, who was “wet and cold” but not injured, according to the department. Once on shore, the kayaker received a medical evaluation. Bridgeport fire and police marine units assisted with the rescue, and the U.S. Coast Guard was notified of the response.
