Learn How to Harvest Shellfish at Fairfield Clam Clinic

The event will take place June 20 at Sasco Hill Beach.

Fairfield’s Shellfish Commission will host a clam clinic event at Sasco Hill Beach on June 20 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for local residents to learn about Fairfield’s natural shellfish resources.

“This event provides an opportunity for Fairfield residents, including children, to experience the basics of harvesting shellfish while learning the importance of Fairfield’s natural shellfish ecosystem,” Robert Bilek, Chairman of the Shellfish Commission, said in a press release.

Participants will be taught harvesting techniques and can keep their own catch. Gear, including clam rakes and gauges, will be provided if needed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own towels.
