Letter To The Editor: Leeper Is Right Choice For Fairfield's Kids
"Now more than ever, our children's mental health needs to be a top priority for our elected officials. Jennifer Leeper is doing just that."
Dear editor:
I am writing to express my support for Jennifer Leeper, who is running for the Connecticut House of Representatives, 132nd District. I am a clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders. I am also the mother of two school-age children. I see firsthand the massive ripple effect COVID is having on children’s mental health.
As parents and educators, we are in uncharted waters. The amount of uncertainty our children are facing weighs heavily on us all. Now more than ever, our children’s mental health needs to be a top priority for our elected officials. Jennifer Leeper is doing just that.

As a member of the Board of Education, Jennifer has a keen understanding of the intersection between mental health and the public schools. In my work with Jennifer’s campaign, I have heard Jennifer’s thoughtful response to the challenges facing students today. Her mental health team was driven by a handful of high school and college students whom she empowered to inform her policy.
This is a unique moment in history that requires effective leaders. I have no doubt that Jennifer is one of those leaders and that she will work tirelessly for Fairfield’s children.
