Letter To The Editor: Residents Should Have A Choice In The Process
"Put the question on the ballot and let the people decide, not a bunch of politicians who fear competition to hold their seats."

To the Editor,
The recent debate over the size of the RTM is something 90 percent of Fairfield residents could probably care less about. Most do not even know what the RTM is. I was a member of the RTM for three terms and the Majority Leader for two years. Walking door to door to campaign, I found myself explaining to people what the RTM at the majority of doors. As the Republican Party Chairman for 10 years, I was tasked with finding candidates. It was extremely difficult to find people who have the time or truly want to serve, especially today in the political climate we are in. With a body of 40 members, there is no accountability. How many people can name the 4 RTM representatives they currently have? These arguments that we need 4 people to represent our neighborhoods does not hold water. Should we have 4 Congressmen? The people of this town should have a voice in this process. Put the question on the ballot and let the people decide, not a bunch of politicians who fear competition to hold their seats.
