Letter To The Editor: Voting For Jennifer Leeper

To the editor,

As a former Fairfield DTC intern, I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know
Representative Jennifer Leeper over the past few years. I was thrilled to be assigned to Jenn’s
campaign in 2020. Immediately, I learned that Jenn was eager to listen to young people, not only
to gain insight and input, but to amplify our voices and ideas. This was exemplified through
Jenn’s Youth Policy Advisory Committees, which were several sessions dedicated to finding
solutions to issues of key importance: education, mental health, gun violence prevention, and the
environment. By dedicating her time to the mentorship of passionate young people who wanted
to positively impact their communities, Jenn had an immeasurable impact on me and so many
others. Jenn brought together a multigenerational cohort, with guests sharing their expertise in
specific fields to foster comprehensive and nuanced discussions. These committees encouraged
all participants to work creatively to generate proposals to address pressing issues, and
empowered us to use our voices to enact change. This is the type of leadership and innovative
problem solving we need to tackle the increasingly complex challenges we face- the Covid-19
pandemic and global warming, to name a few.

From this experience, and by observing Jenn serve her first term, she has proven herself to be
someone who doesn’t just take stances, but does her research, finds creative solutions, follows
through, and delivers for her constituents. I hope you will join me in voting for Jenn Leeper this
November.
