Little League World Series: Meet The New England Champions

What you need to know about today's game in the Little League World Series, including the team roster and individual player baseball cards.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The wait is over. Fairfield American, the New England Regional champions, will open play in the Little League World Series at 3 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 17) against Holbrook Little League, the Mid-Atlantic champions out of Jackson, New Jersey, at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

The team arrived in Williamsport on Sunday and has taken part in numerous scheduled activities, including a parade on Wednesday, and practiced every day to stay sharp and now it’s time to play ball. (To sign up for Fairfield breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Fairfield American (18-0) made Connecticut history by becoming the first state program to advance to the Little League World Series three times. The Fairfield American program also advanced to the Little League World Series in the 2010 and 2012 seasons.

“There are only eight teams in this country playing meaningful Little League baseball at this point and Fairfield American is one of them and the whole program should be proud,” Fairfield American manager Mike Randazzo recently said. “We’re here to play baseball and win this tournament.”
