Ludlowe Baseball Seeded Eighth in Class L
FCIAC champions to host Darien in first round on Tuesday
Fresh off its first FCIAC championship, the Fairfield Ludlowe baseball team will enter the CIAC Class L state tournament as the No. 8 seed.
The Falcons, 15-5 in the regular season, will host FCIAC rival Darien, the No. 25 seed which snuck into the tournament with an 8-12 record, on Tuesday afternoon at Kiwanis Field at 4 p.m.
Should Ludlowe win, it also would host a second-round game on Wednesday against No. 9 Rockville (14-6) or No. 24 New Fairfield (9-11). The quarterfinals are set for Saturday at a site to be determined.

"There have been so many great moments throughout the course of the season and what's even more exciting is that it's not over yet," Ludlowe coack Keith O'Rourke said. "Hopefully, another two weeks to come."

Here's a look at the schedules for the other Ludlowe and Warde teams that qualified for the state tournament in their respective sports:
Ludlowe
Softball -- The 11th-seeded Falcons (14-6) will host No. 22 Staples (9-9) on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. The winner of that game plays at No. 6 Glastonbury (17-3) in the second round on Wednesday.
Boys lacrosse -- The Falcons (9-7) are the No. 10 seed and play at No. 7 Wilton (11-5) in the first round on Thursday at 3 p.m. The winner takes on either No. 2 Darien (14-2) or No. 15 North Haven (7-9) in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Girls lacrosse -- Ludlowe (11-5) is the No. 8 seed, but will have to play a qualifying game on Tuesday at home against No. 25 Valley Regional (7-9-0) at 5 p.m. The winner will take on Trumbull or Farmington in a first-round contest on Thursday.
Girls tennis -- The Falcons (13-5) are the No. 14 seed and will meet No. 19 South Windsor (11-7) in a qualifying match Tuesday at Glastonbury at 1 p.m. The winner plays at No.3 Glastonbury (16-2) later in the day at 3 p.m.
Boys tennis -- Pairings to be announced next week.
Warde
Softball -- The Mustangs (16-4) are the No. 4 seed and received a bye into the second round. Warde will host a second-round game on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against either No. 13 Berlin (13-7) or No. 20 Sheehan (10-10)
Girls tennis -- Warde (15-3) is the No. 10 seed Fairfield and will play a qualifying match against No. 23 Southington (9-8) at Pomperaug on Tuesday afternoon at 12:30. The winner faces Pomperaug or Newtown later in the day at Pomperaug at 3 p.m.
Boys tennis -- Pairings to be announced next week.
