Luxury SUV Owner Injured Trying To Stop Theft Of His Vehicle In Fairfield: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield man had his foot run over Saturday evening, when he tried to thwart the theft of his 2021 Audi SQ5 from a Cumberland Farms at 975 Kings Highway East, according to Fairfield police.

The gas station theft, one of two stolen vehicles reported over the weekend in Fairfield, occurred at about 7:45 p.m. as the owner left the vehicle running as he went in to pay for gas.

"While [he was] inside, an individual entered the unattended vehicle and drove away," Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch. "The victim sustained minor injuries when he attempted to stop the theft and declined medical treatment."

The stolen vehicle, and several personal items inside, were entered into the national stolen vehicle database, and at about 5 a.m. on Sunday, the vehicle was located in Waterbury, undamaged, Wellington said.

While this vehicle was recovered, a second stolen car in Fairfield over the weekend has not yet been found.

At about 1:20 p.m., also on Saturday, a car was stolen from a home on Stratfield Road.

Similar to the Audi, this vehicle had also been left unlocked and with the keys inside.

"The Fairfield Police Department would again like to remind residents to lock their vehicles and take their keys," Wellington said. "We also urge residents not to confront individuals attempting to take vehicles and to call 911 right away."
