Man, 89, Struck by Car while Walking to his Birthday Breakfast at McDonald's

An 89-year-old man was struck by a car while he was walking to McDonald’s for his birthday breakfast Saturday morning in Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports the man was taken the hospital for treatment of a broken leg, pelvis, shoulder and lower back and was scheduled for surgery on Monday.

The man was crossing Burroughs Road at about 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, and police told the Citizen he was about 4 feet from reaching the sidewalk before he was struck by a car driven by an unidentified Fairfield woman, 61, who failed to stop and had to be chased by a witness.

The woman told police she thought she hit the curb, according to the Citizen.
