Man Accused of Choking, Whipping Girlfriend: Report

Fairfield Police arrested the man after learning of the alleged assault while investigating a report that he threatened to hurt himself.

Fairfield Police have charged a man with allegedly choking and whipping his girlfriend in an assault they say occurred the night before officers went to check on his well-being, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports police responded to a Shady Hill Road home on Sunday on a report that a man threatened to hurt himself and during the investigation, officers were told Michael Schroeder, 30, had attacked his girlfriend the night before.

The girlfriend told police that Schroeder held a knife to his chest and began hitting himself with an empty glass beer jug until he fell to the ground in the Sunday incident, according to the Citizen.
