Man Barricaded Self In Fairfield Home With Several Guns: Police

After three hours, the man was taken into custody.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man was taken into custody Wednesday after barricading himself inside his home with several guns, according to police.

Law enforcement received a report about 4 p.m. that a man was having a mental breakdown as a result of a domestic issue, a Fairfield Police Department news release said. Officers made contact with the man, who was barricaded with multiple firearms inside a home on Wormwood Road, according to police. The man told law enforcement he was going to hurt himself, the news release said.

Negotiators were sent to the scene, and after about three hours, the man surrendered peacefully, according to police. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. No one was injured.
