Man Burglarized 2 Homes On Same Street: Fairfield Cops

When the suspect met with detectives, he was carrying items stolen from the homes on his person and in his vehicle, police stated.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport man is accused of burglarizing two homes on the same Fairfield street in quick succession. Robert Thompson is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and larceny in connection with thefts on Algonquin Road, according to police.

Officers responded July 16 to a burglar alarm in the 200 block on Algonquin Road, a news release from Fairfield police stated. They arrived to find a basement door forced open and items stolen. While police were investigating the neighborhood, a second alarm went off in the 100 block of Algonquin Road, and officers discovered another burglary had happened.

Police identified Thompson, 48, as one of the suspects through surveillance footage and additional investigative work, according to police. During a July 18 meeting with Thompson, detectives found he was carrying property stolen from the two homes on his person and in his vehicle, police stated. Thompson was taken into custody and his bond was set at $50,000, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in court July 29.
