FAIRFIELD, CT — A man faces multiple charges after he grabbed and kissed a stranger at the Fairfield Whole Foods, according to police. The incident began the evening of Nov. 25 at the grocery store at 350 Grasmere Ave., where a man later identified as Kevin Monsalve seized the woman by the back of her neck, kissed her on the mouth without consent, hit the brim of her hat and told her, "It is National Kiss Day," a Fairfield police report said.

The woman told police her assailant smelled strongly of alcohol, appeared to be drunk or high, and was a complete stranger to her, according to the report. Upon reviewing surveillance from the store, a sergeant recognized the suspect as Monsalve, the report said. Several hours after the assault, police responding to a disturbance at Andros Diner, 651 Villa Ave., found Monsalve at the restaurant and arrested him, according to the report.

Monsalve, 23, was charged with sex assault and breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court Dec. 9, according to police. He was also warned not to return to Whole Foods.
