Man Charged In Fairfield Crash That Injured State Trooper On I-95
He turned himself in to law enforcement Monday, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Trumbull man was arrested Monday in connection with the 2019 Fairfield crash that left a Connecticut State Police trooper seriously injured.
Joseph J. Buzzanca, 33, turned himself in to troopers in Bridgeport on an outstanding warrant arrest issued after the June 16 incident near northbound Exit 22 on Interstate 95, police said in a news release. Buzzanca is charged with assault with a vehicle, driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to stay in a lane, failure to slow and move over for an emergency vehicle, and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to police.
The crash occurred about 2 a.m., when Buzzanca veered into the shoulder and hit a state trooper's vehicle, which was stopped with its emergency lights activated behind a third, disabled vehicle, police said at the time. The trooper's cruiser was pushed into the rear of the third vehicle.
