Man Hit 5 Vehicles, Fought Fairfield Police Officer: Cops
Christopher Garcia appeared to be under the influence when he was arrested, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A man faces several charges after he hit five vehicles and fought an officer to the ground, according to Fairfield police.
The incident began 6:30 p.m. Thursday, when officers were called to Grace Street and found a driver who was trying to park his car had hit four parked cars and a vehicle that was on the road, a police department news release said. The driver, Christopher Garcia, appeared to be under the influence and was arrested, according to police.
A few hours later, when Garcia was being moved from the department's holding cell to the overnight cell, he resisted the shift commander trying to transfer him to the extent that both fell to the ground in a struggle, the news release said. Workers in the dispatch center saw the altercation on the department's surveillance system and called for help, according to the news release. The shift commander kept Garcia under control until other officers arrived to assist, police said. None of the officers were injured.

"Had it not been for the observations of the dispatchers and their quick action, this incident could have had a much different result," the news release said.
Garcia, 25, was originally charged and held on $500 bond for driving under the influence, evading responsibility and reckless driving, according to police. After the struggle, he was also charged with two counts of assault and interfering with an officer, and held on an additional $25,000 bond, police said. He was taken to court Friday morning for arraignment.
