FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Police have shared a video of a man berating and mocking several officers while at a gas station to show the public some of what cops have to deal with. In the 5-minute video, in which the man was issued an infraction for pumping gas with the engine running, the man mocks the officers with many references to the Police Academy movies and uses very profane language.
The video had been circulating on social media so police decided to share it for the public to see it for themselves. The video was recorded by the man pumping gas and later identified as Justin Lazaro who was arrested later in the day for violating a protective order, according to police. “While members of the Fairfield CT Police Department work to keep our community safe, they encounter this type of behavior and attitude towards them,” Fairfield Police wrote in a post on Facebook. “This video says a lot about the Officers on scene and the person doing the recording. Our Officers remained professional in the face of this inanity and disrespect. Ensuring police professionalism matters – antagonizing and insulting police just for fun is wrong.
