Update: Police ID Apparent Drowning Victim in Bar Fight Case

The fight took place at Chubby's Bar and Grill, near the Bridgeport-Fairfield line.

Update: Police have identified the person who apparently drowned as Wayne Bentley, 42, of West Haven, according to NBC Connecticut.

Original story: Police are searching for a man who was reportedly involved in a bar fight with another man who drowned.

Police were called to Chubby’s Bar and Grill near the Bridgeport-Fairfield line around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday for the report of a bar fight. The men reportedly fell into the water behind the bar, police said.

The body of one man who drowned was recovered from the water by the Bridgeport Fire Department. The identity of the man was not released.

Police are looking for the other man involved, who allegedly fled the scene.

Police said no weapons were involved in the incident and there is no connection to the Gathering of the Vibes Concert.
