FAIRFIELD, CT — A man is accused of smashing several car windows and stealing items in a commercial area of northeast Fairfield, according to police.

Wilberto Lozada Acosta, 37, is charged with burglary, larceny, possession of burglary tools and interfering with law enforcement, police said in a news release.

Acosta was charged after law enforcement responded about 2:30 a.m. Thursday to a motion alarm at Gaines Construction, 32 Berwick Court, according to the news release. Officers checked the building, which showed no signs of forced entry, but as patrols investigated the parking lot of the business, a vehicle was found with a broken-out rear window, police said. Fresh footprints indicated someone had rummaged through the vehicle, according to the news release.
