Man Stopped With 2 Pounds Of Pot On I-95 In Fairfield: Police
The man, who is from Virginia, faces several charges.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Virginia man is charged after he was stopped on Interstate 95 in Fairfield with almost 2 pounds of marijuana, according to state police. Gary Diaz was stopped just before 4 a.m. Monday by state troopers after his green Toyota Camry veered from the center lane into the left lane while traveling south near Exit 19, police said in a news release.
While speaking to Diaz, troopers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the car, according to the news release. A search revealed two large Zip-Loc bags of pot under the center console, police said.
Diaz, 30, of Alexandria, Virginia, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and failure to maintain proper lane, according to police. He will appear in court Oct. 15.
