FAIRFIELD, CT — State police are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in connection with a theft at an Interstate 95 rest stop, according to law enforcement.
Troopers responded about 2 a.m. March 22 to a report of a theft at the rest stop on southbound I-95 in Fairfield, state police said in a Facebook post. A janitor at the stop said that a brown wallet containing a driver's license, debit and credit cards, and $1,000 cash was missing from a backpack in a supply closet, as were some cigarettes, according to police.
Surveillance footage revealed that a white man who appeared to be in his late 30s to late 40s entered the closet and left with an item in his hands, police said. The man was wearing a black stocking cap, black jacket, black pants and white sneakers, according to police. In surveillance footage, there appears to be a design on the front left side and back of the jacket. The man was also seen exiting the rest area with what appears to be a brown item in his right hand, police said, adding the man arrived and left in a white sedan.
