Man Tried To Cash $4,000 Check Under False Identity: Fairfield PD

The New Jersey man presented a forged passport card and forged credit card as identification, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A New Jersey man faces several charges after he tried to cash a check at a Fairfield bank under an assumed name, according to police.

Daniel Verrecchia-Goldberg, 33, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Monday and charged with attempted larceny, identity theft, impersonation, three counts of forgery and interfering with an officer, police said in a report.

Verrecchia-Goldberg attempted to cash a counter check for $3,982 at M&T Bank, 837 Post Road, under a false identity and presented a forged passport card and forged credit card as identification, the report said. When officers arrived on scene, Verrecchia-Goldberg identified himself by a false name, according to the report.

Verrecchia-Goldberg, of West Vernon, New Jersey, is set to appear in court Feb. 5, police said.
