McKinney Vows to End Common Core if Elected Governor

McKinney faces Tom Foley in the Republican primary on Aug. 12.

Last week at a press conference in Stratford, Republican gubernatorial candidate John McKinney, of Fairfield, said he would “give people their money back” by eliminating the state income tax for residents earning less than $75,000.

On Monday, McKinney said he would go back to the drawing board with education by ending the federally mandated Common Core Standards.

“I think it’s time to start over, and I think you sit down with teachers and administrators throughout this state and you work on it,”McKinney told the editorial boards of Hearst Connecticut Media in a wide-ranging 100-minute interview.
