FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield police officer found a missing woman over the weekend.

Mary Gunn, who is 81 years old and has diabetes and dementia, was the subject of a Silver Alert after she was reported missing Saturday from Stamford. Gunn was found Sunday when the Fairfield officer stopped Gunn’s vehicle on Interstate 95, according to Fairfield police Lt. Antonio Granata.

The officer heard a broadcast, which said Gunn’s vehicle had been seen near West Haven, Granata said in an email. The officer positioned his police cruiser on the I-95 ramp for Exit 23 southbound, and just a few minutes later, he saw the vehicle and performed a traffic stop to assist Gunn, who had been missing more than 24 hours, according to Granata.
