FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police are holding onto $1,200 in the cash it was left at a local store, according to law enforcement.

The money was left at Bob’s Stores, 889 Post Road, by an elderly man who came to the business March 7 to buy $10,000 in clothing to send to Ukraine, according to police.

“He left saying that he had to go to a doctor’s office but prior to leaving left $1,200.00 in cash as a ‘down payment,’” police said, noting the man indicated he would be back the next day. “He never returned and is unable to be identified.”
