Fairfield Power Outages: 2,500-Plus Without Power (UPDATE)
Update on power outages, impassible roads, and available shower stations, as Fairfield continues to dig out from Wednesday's snowstorm.

FAIRFIELD, CT — As the town continues to dig out from Wednesday’s snowstorm, the Department of Public Works reports that more than 150 roads in Fairfield are impassible due to downed wires and trees. UI reports that 2,530 homes are without power, as of 10:30 a.m. UI is reporting that power restoration will not be complete till Saturday, First Selectman Mike Tetreau said in a post on Twitter Thursday morning.
The following warming and charging stations are available to residents:
- Fairfield Recreation offers shower facilities at this location at 75 Mill Plain Rd. Hours Thurs 10 a.m. - 9:30 p.m., Friday 5:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.
- Fitness Edge Fairfield 500 Kings Highway Cutoff
- Black Rock Congregational Church 3685 Black Rock Tpk. Until 5 p.m.
Black Rock Church has offered the church as a warming shelter today for those without power who need to keep warm, charge their phones or use the internet, according to police. Light food and coffee will be available. Those needing more information or who are looking for someone who may be at the shelter can call the church at 203 255-3401.

The church will be open till 5 p.m. but hours may be extended if needed, police said.
“The Town is working closely with UI to clear roads and restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” police said in a post on Facebook. “Treat all downed wires as if they are energized. To report a downed power line or outage please call UI at 800 722 5584. Travel around town is difficult due to the many road closures. Please use caution when traveling and remember to check on you neighbors.”

(Previous post) FAIRFIELD, CT — United Illuminating was reporting 113 events with 4,388 customers without power around 1 a.m. In an update late Wednesday night, First Selectman Mike Tetreau said that UI will have crews working in Fairfield overnight.
"Not sure how many so keep an eye out," Tetreau said. "However, their Make Safe crews that help us clear roads will not report till 6 a.m. Thursday morning."
(Original post) FAIRFIELD, CT — More than 4,100 customers in Fairfield were without power as of 8:18 p.m., according to United Illuminating. Fairfield Police are advising residents to stay off the roads due to extremely hazardous travel conditions during the snowstorm. Several downed trees and power lines have also been reported. TREES & POWER LINES: Numerous Power lines and trees have been reported down during the course of this storm. United Illuminating is prioritizing each outage, however, due to the extreme conditions, full restoration efforts may not begin until tomorrow morning.
POWER OUTAGES: As of 8:18 PM, UI is reporting 95 Outages affecting 4,186 Customers in Fairfield.
