Nearly $3,000 In Cash Stolen From Parked Car: Fairfield Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — Nearly $3,000 in cash was recently stolen from a vehicle in Fairfield, according to police.

The theft was reported about 8 a.m. Feb. 13, police said. The driver’s side window was smashed on a vehicle parked in front of a house in the 200 block of Lalley Boulevard, according to police, who said the glovebox and center console were rummaged through, with $2,650 in cash stolen from the console.

Less than an hour after receiving the report of the theft, police were notified that two windows had been smashed overnight on a separate vehicle on the same block, although nothing was stolen, authorities said.

The incidents were among many vehicle-related crimes reported in recent days, according to police. Others, via logs provided by the Fairfield Police Department, include:

5:09 p.m. Feb. 11, 400 block of Judd Street: Catalytic converter reported stolen.

5:23 a.m. Feb. 13, Longdean Road: Person tried to enter vehicle and left in dark sedan. Car located by police, but it sped away and was later seen entering Interstate 95 northbound.

7:01 a.m. Feb. 13, 600 block of Reef Road: Black Jeep Grand Cherokee stolen overnight while parked on road. Found in Hartford.

4:47 p.m. Feb. 13, 1000 block of Pequot Avenue: Vehicles entered and rummaged through, nothing stolen.

5 p.m. Feb. 13, Highlawn Road: Catalytic converter reported stolen.

5:51 p.m. Feb. 15, Sterling Street: Vehicle entered overnight, nothing stolen.

6:15 p.m. Feb. 15, 1100 block of Stratfield Road: Unlocked vehicle entered overnight, rummaged through.

7:05 a.m. Feb. 16, 500 block of the Post Road: Officers located stolen vehicle that sped onto northbound Interstate 95. No pursuit initiated.

9:35 a.m. Feb. 16, Unquowa Road: Catalytic converter stolen at Metro North station.

3 p.m. Feb. 16, Paul Place: Catalytic converter reported stolen.

8:19 a.m. Feb. 18, Colonese Road: Front license plate stolen.

11:07 a.m. Feb. 18, 400 block of Tunxis Hill Road: Catalytic converters stolen from three new vehicles at Fairfield Mitsubishi.
