Netflix Movie Filming At Several Fairfield Locations
The movie, which stars Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell, is based on a short story by Stephen King.

FAIRFIELD, CT — With Halloween just around the corner, it’s only fitting that several Fairfield sites played the part earlier this week of locations in the spooky world of Stephen King.
The crew of the Netflix movie “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone” was in town Monday, according to Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart. Based on a short story by King, the film tells the tale of a boy who befriends an elderly man named Mr. Harrigan and learns that even after the reclusive billionaire has died, he is able to maintain communication with the man, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“It was a pretty big production,” Barnhart said. “They have quite a large cast and crew.”

The project received a permit to film in three Fairfield locations: the Old Academy building on the Town Hall campus, First Church Congregational and South Benson Marina, according to Barnhart. Work on the movie was cut short Monday due to rain, but the crew will return to town in mid-November for additional filming.

“They were planning to come back in mid-November anyway,” Barnhart said.
Fairfield has been a filming location for multiple Netflix movies this year. In April, thriller “The Good Nurse,” starring Eddie Redmayne, came to town, and in June, holiday film “The Noel Diary,” starring Justin Hartley, filmed in Southport.
“Mr. Harrigan’s Phone” is filming primarily at the Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, according to Barnhart. Work on the movie was expected to start in late November at the mansion and continue until around Thanksgiving.
