New 100-Unit Apartment Complex In Fairfield Closer To Reality: Report
The proposal calls for development of a nearly 5-acre site at 4480 Black Rock Turnpike.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A proposal for a 100-unit apartment complex at 4480 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield recently received approval from the town's Inland Wetlands Agency, but it still has more hurdles to cross, reported the Fairfield Citizen.
The agency approved the plan, which calls for 30 percent of the units to be affordable under the 8-30g provision, with the condition that the developers provide the Conservation Commission with information on several issues to obtain a permit.
Among the outstanding conditions are what trees/plants will the developers install, and information on soil erosion control.

The proposed complex is slated for a 4.72-acre site in the Cricker Brook watershed, and the plan was initially denied, in part due to a lack of some key environmental impact information.
Additionally, the plan was met with resistance by some residents, and Aquarion Water Company, over density, environmental impact and the placement of a 48-inch water main.

If a conservation permit is obtained, the next step is for the proposal to go before the town's Plan and Zoning Commission for approval.
