New Beauty Salon Receives Boost from Fairfield Grant
Fairfield has awarded its latest micro-enterprise assistance grant to a new startup beauty salon.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A new beauty salon in Fairfield will receive a boost with launching its business thanks to a micro-enterprise assistance grant, according to town officials.
The Fairfield Department of Community & Economic Development announced its latest micro-enterprise assistance grant has been awarded to Alchemy, The Salon, which is located within My Salon Suites at 427 Stillson Road.
The grant will enable Alchemy to purchase equipment and cover tenant fit-up and marketing costs associated with its new business location in Fairfield.

Alchemy, The Salon is a premier beauty salon that offers hair styling and related services to both men and women in a friendly and cozy environment.
Fairfield native Imogene Wilson is the driving force behind Alchemy, The Salon, and brings with her eight years of experience as a hair stylist and colorist, both in Florida and Connecticut.

“We’re delighted to help, and always excited to welcome new business to Fairfield,” Mark Barnhart, Director of the Department of Community & Economic Development, said in a press release. “Small businesses such as Alchemy have long been the backbone of our economy, and the Micro-Enterprise Program has been a very useful tool in our small business development strategy.”
The Micro-Enterprise Assistance Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
It is intended to provide entrepreneurs with training, technical assistance, and startup capital in order to create and sustain viable and productive small businesses in Fairfield.
The program seeks to strengthen and enhance these small businesses, with the ultimate goal of increasing employment opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons. In order to be eligible, applicants must be a recognized form of commercial enterprise that employs five or fewer employees, have its primary operations in Fairfield, and be current on all tax obligations.
Since the inception of the program, the town has assisted more than 35 small businesses.
