New Jersey Devils Select Fairfield Resident In 2022 NHL Draft
The NHL will have to wait a bit, as the 18-year-old is headed to college in the fall.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Charlie Leddy, an 18-year-old from Fairfield, was selected by the New Jersey Devils at #126 overall, in the fourth round, of last week's 2022 NHL Draft, the team announced.
Leddy is a defenseman, and he joins a team with a deep tradition of stellar defenders, such as Stanley Cup Champions Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko.
He spent the last two years with the National Team Development Program of USA Hockey, and competed in IIHF Under-18 World Hockey Championship, CT Insider reported.

"Devils continue to add to their haul of defensemen in this draft," the team wrote on its website. "[Leddy] had 17 points in 55 games for the US National Development Team but his real strength is his ability to play steady on the blueline and provide some size at 6'1"."
Despite being drafted, Leddy's NHL dreams will have to wait a bit, because the 18-year-old is committed to attending Boston College in the fall.
