New Organic Skincare Company KISSOAPERY Opens In Fairfield

The shop, which specializes on skincare products for people and dogs, is at 43 Unquowa Road in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A new shop recently opened in downtown Fairfield that can take care of all yours — and your dog's — skincare needs.

KISSOAPERY, at 43 Unquowa Road, was founded by Fairfield residents Nicole Georgakis and her husband, Louis, two former television veterans (her at A&E, he at NBC) who have a passion for skincare.

Passion might not be the correct term for Nicole, who told Patch during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, that her move into the highly competitive world of skincare was more out of necessity.

"I've been making my own soaps for more than 10 years, because basically, I was allergic to everything," she said.

Trial and error with a plethora of various soap creations, which she endlessly tested on herself and friends and family, with everything being all-natural, organic, plant-based and reef-safe.

That eventually led to the official launch of KISSOAPERY, which translates to "Keep it simple soapery," in the fall of 2019.

"I oversee all the sourcing of the ingredients we use," Nicole said. "After many years of suffering, I make sure we only use the best ingredients, because I know what it's like to be frustrated by products that irritate skin. I'm so glad to be able to help other people with their skincare."

All the company's products are made "without parabens, petroleum, pesticides, phthalates, sulfates, GMO, silicone, artificial dyes or fragrance," a phrase that is front and center on KISSOAPERY's website.

"At KIS, we employ the cold process soap making method mixed by hand in small batches using our all natural oils that provide a healthy lather that cleans and leaves skin feeling moisturized - never using chemicals or preservatives that cause skin irritation or harm to the environment around us when washed off."

Louis said that the original idea was to move into a retail space at some point in 2020, but the pandemic dashed those plans for a couple of years, but they were able to build a following at craft shows and festivals.

"We had to pivot very quickly to online, home delivery and other methods to get our products out there," he said.
