New Salon Open In Fairfield, Bringing NYC Style To Southport
A Fairfield couple is bringing their New York City salon experience to Southport, with Camoro Salon.

FAIRFIELD, CT — What started as an experiment in a Fairfield poolhouse has grown into one of Southport’s newest businesses.
Danielle and Elie Camoro opened Camoro Salon in September, drawing clients from across the New York City area, from Greenwich to Long Island.
Before starting the Fairfield salon, Danielle had spent much of her career as a protege of Marie Robinson, the New York City stylist known for working with celebrities, while Elie trained under Frédéric Fekkai, eventually becoming a creative director for Fekkai.

When the couple, both Connecticut natives, had children and moved to Fairfield to be near family, they wondered if they could offer New York City-quality styles without a long commute.
“I felt like there was a strong need of good hair in Connecticut,” Danielle said.

So the pair set up a styling chair and sink in their beach area poolhouse and Danielle started seeing clients there. The word spread. The coronavirus pandemic came, but the business flourished. It was then that Danielle and Elie decided to open a “real salon.”
Located at 174 Rennell Drive, with a staff “fresh out of New York,” Camoro Salon offers a wide range of coloring and cuts, according to Danielle, who noted she specializes in coloring while Elie’s expertise is styling.
“We’re both very strong in both departments,” she said.
The salon is inside the Delamar Southport hotel and aims to provide a relaxing atmosphere with an earthy, Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic.
The mix of an experienced staff in a peaceful environment seems to be a winning combination. Danielle said the salon has established itself as an option for people who want a high-quality haircut but would rather drive to a location in the suburbs than take a train to New York City.
